Welcome to BYL′s home on the web!
Welcome to the Bandits Youth Lacrosse website.  We are an organization that believes youth sports should focus on developing young players to be the best that he or she can be.  We focus on developing a player's skill, sportsmanship, teamwork and love of the game.  We, the coaches, will never berate an athlete or another coach or referee.  We expect the same kind of attitude and behavior from our players.  We play hard but we play clean and with respect for those around us.  We hope your young athlete will consider joining us.  We promise to teach your child what he/she needs to know in order to play this game competitively.  We also promise to provide an environment which is positive and encouraging to help your child play the best that he/she is capable of playing.

Registration open Friday and lacrosse clinic!

Free Lax clinic!

Any chance I mentioned the Bandits are hosting a free lacrosse/recruiting clinic on Saturday 10/21 at 9:30?

Please spread the word as we NEED to recruit players at all age groups.  Our goal is to field two teams at each of boys age groups, and finally field a team at all four age groups for the girls.  We will need about 10 new players per age group (2 school grades) to do that!

We will be opening registration on Friday 10/20.  Many of you took advantage of the “save my spot” registration that we opened from June through September, due to that some age groups are already 80% full for 1 team.  So please sign up for the “practice team/waitlist” if you do not get one of the spots on the first team, then help us recruit some friends.

Changes to registration for 2018

Boys need to register with the MBYLL before they register with the Bandits. http://mbyll.org/

You will set up a profile for the adult, then add the child as a player.  You will pay $40 to the MBYLL, this will cover insurance and league fees.  US Lacrosse is NO LONGER required for the boy’s program.

The girls program will still go through the US Lacrosse web site as part of the registration process, you will pay $30 for the insurance and then complete the registration on the Bandits web page.

We handed out information last year informing our families we would no longer include uniforms in the cost of the program.  This will help us not increase fees this year, returning families will only need to purchase a uniform if their player has out grown his old uniform.  You can purchase the uniform on our team web store.

We have lowered the cost for 2018 from last year.

If you registered in the “Save my spot” registration, there is a $10 credit on your player profile.  If you set up a new profile the credit will not be applied.  If there is an issue, do not pay at the end of your registration process and email me at , I will adjust it in the system.

So be sure to get registered soon! And help us spread the word so we can reach our growth goal for 2018!

Need you help spreading information!
  • Looking for someone with a little artistic abilities
  • Recruiting/spreading the word
  • Free Lax Clinic
  • Savers pre collections
  • Boys registration process

  • Anyone out there have the ability to help me create a flier for the Bandits registration opening and for the clinic on 10/21.  I am limited to what I can do in word and clip art.  Please reach out to me at
  • Our “goal” for 2018 would be to field 2 boy’s teams from 3-8th grade and one at 1-2 grade.  Additionally we would like to have a team at each age group for the girls so they can compete against their own age groups.  We will not reach those goals without recruiting about 10 kids per age group. PLEASE help us spread the word.  We are looking for volunteers willing to place yard signs in their yards to help recruit around Auburn and Worcester. Please reach out to me at
  • We will host a free lacrosse clinic on 10/21 at Auburn High School from 9:30 to 11.  We want existing Bandits players there and more importantly we want them to bring their friends.  We will teach them a little bit about the game and have some fun lacrosse activities for them to do.  Only a stick is needed, if you have an extra someone could borrow that day please do bring it.
  • Savers fundraiser, we need you to start collecting old clothes like we asked last year.  We will have a few more pre collection drop off days.  We will announce on Facebook and put on our web site. Here is what they will allow us to collect and donate https://www.savers.com/donate/what-we-take
  • Boy’s registration process is changing.  Instead of registering first with the Bandits and being looped to the US Lacrosse website for membership/insurance, then back to the Bandits to finish registration.  Starting in October you will not go the MBYLL web site, create a registration and pay the insurance there along with a portion of the fee we used to pay on your behalf.  They will provide you with a code that will be required to register any male player in our system.  We will post more details, but wanted to get the word out.  There is no change to the girls registration process.
  • We will open the registration on our web site the week of the clinic; target is 10/21 currently.

This weekend is Auburn Homecoming weekend.  The Bandits will have a booth set up between 11:30-3 Saturday 9/23.  Please swing by and say hello!

We are looking to talk to members about the new process for signing up boys, and recruiting players from 1st to 8th grade, both boys and girls.

We will have goalie gear, and field gear for the kids to try on, a shooting station where you can qualify to win a new lacrosse stick. And a bounce back for a little wall ball practice.

Swing by and visit Coach Crowley, Coach Aaron, Coach Mike, Coach Tess and other volunteers.

Bring all your questions from new players thinking about trying lacrosse this spring.

Registration opens 10/20 for returning players!!!

Q: When is lacrosse season?

A: We start practice in March when the fields are released; games are played on Sundays from April through Mid-June. (Same season as baseball and softball)

Q: When does registration open?

A: We open registration to in mid to late October

Q: I am having trouble with the registration (Girls)

A: In the registration process you are required to go to US Lacrosse and create and pay for a membership, and then it will bring you back to the Bandits web site.  There is often on issue doing so on IOS based devices (iPads, iPhones)

Q: Why can't I figure out how to complete my registration on the Bandits web site/ why is it asking for an MBYLL player registration number (Boys)

A: You need to go to the MBYLL web site and register your player.  You will create a profile for yourself, add your child, then register them for the spring 2018 season.  You pay $40 there and will be sent a code via email.  The $40 covers insurance for the year and the portion of the league fees the Bandits used to pay directly to the MBYLL.  The money will go back into the regions for trainings, coach education and other lacrosse based events.

Q: Why is the process to register my son and my daughter different?

A: The process within the Bandits web site is the same, but the parent leagues control where we get our insurance from.  US Lacrosse for girls and MBYLL for boys. (New in 2018)

Q: How often do you practice?

A: U11 and above practice two days a week and play on Sundays

A: U9s practice one day a week (last two years on Saturday mornings), they also play on Sunday.

Q: How much does it cost for the season?

A: Boys in 2018 the rate will go down as it no longer includes a uniform, it will be $180 for U11 and above, $165 for U9. That cost includes the $40 fee to MBYLL you pay directly on their website. http://mbyll.org/

A: Girls in 2018 the rate will go down as it no longer includes a uniform, it will be $170 for U11 and above, $155 for U9. That cost includes the $30 fee to US Lacrosse you pay directly on their website.

Q: Where do the Bandits practice?

A: Over the past several seasons we have used Lemansky and Swanson Rd Intermediate School for practice and games

Q: What equipment do I need?

A: Boys need a lacrosse helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves and a lacrosse stick. You can find starter packages for around $150-$200

A: Girls need goggles, mouthpiece and lacrosse stick (girls have different sticks than boys)

Q: What towns can play for the Bandits?

A: The Bandits represent both Auburn and Worcester, but we allow players from surrounding towns that do not have their own lacrosse program.

Q: What league do the Bandits play in?

A: The Bandits play in the MBYLL and MGYLL, “town lacrosse”, there are programs all over Massachusetts that are part of the MBYLL and MGYLL.

Q: Who runs and coaches the Bandits?

A: The Bandits are a nonprofit all volunteer organization.  We have volunteers that run the program as part of our Board.  The coaches are all parent volunteers like you.  Most have never played lacrosse.

Q: If your coaches didn’t grow up playing how do they learn to coach?

A: The MBYLL/MGYLL and US Lacrosse sponsor a coach training program, there are required on line training and in person trainings.  There are experienced coaches in the program always willing to help out or answer any questions you have.

Q: What do you pay coaches or do they get discounts on signing up their children?

A: We do not pay coaches and they still are required to pay for their children to play.  We do reimburse coaches for the expenses incurred for training classes and certification

Q: If is a spring sport why do we register in the fall?

A: We are required to submit how many teams at each age group we will have by 12/31 to the league.  We also place our uniform order by 11/1 to keep the uniform costs as low as possible

Q: What is the refund policy for the Bandits?

A: The Bandits can NOT refund any funds paid to US Lacrosse.  Prior to Feb 1 the Bandits will refund all money paid to the Bandits for registration only.  After Feb 1 the Bandits will refund 50% of the fees paid to the Bandits for registration.  Exception being if we have a player waiting to take the slot of the player leaving.  We incur 75% of the cost for the season prior to 2/1 which is why we can only offer the 50% refund.
