Q: Are there tryouts?
A: The town-based teams do NOT require tryouts, we welcome all players, new or returning, as long as there is space.
A: SOME years we have enough kids to add a "select team" for additional games and practice. Those teams will require a tryout. We may also combine with other towns to form a select team.

Q: What towns can play for Auburn and Worcester Youth Lacrosse?
A: The AWYL represent both Auburn and Worcester, but we allow players from surrounding towns that do not have their own lacrosse program. Girls from Dudley and Charlton can also play for us because they do not have a girls program.
Q: Who runs and coaches AWYL?
A: AWYL is a nonprofit, all-volunteer, organization. We have volunteers that run the program as part of our Board. The coaches are all parent volunteers like you. Most have never played lacrosse. If you are interested in helping out, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: If your coaches didn’t grow up playing, how do they learn to coach?
A: The MYL sponsors a coach training program. There are required on-line trainings and in-person trainings. There are also experienced coaches in the program always willing to help out or answer any questions you have.
Q: What do you pay coaches or do they get discounts on signing up their children?
A: We do not pay coaches and they still are required to pay for their children to play. We do reimburse coaches for the expenses incurred for training classes and certification. Our coaches coach for the love of the game and the children.
Q: If is a spring sport, why do we register in the fall?
A: We are required to submit our team numbers to our parent leagues by January.
Q: What is the refund policy for the Auburn and Worcester Youth Lacrosse organization?
A: The AWYL can NOT refund any funds paid to MYL. Prior to March 1, the Auburn and Worcester Youth Lacrosse will refund all money paid to the organization for registration only. After March 1, AWYL will refund 50% of the fees paid to the organization for registration only. Exception being if we have a player waiting to take the slot of the player leaving. We incur 75% of the cost for the season prior to March 1, which is why we can only offer the 50% refund.
Q: Why do we need to purchase a uniform?
A: Like most youth leagues now, AWYL no longer provides a uniform for players. We will provide a uniform top for Grades 1st and 2nd to use for the season. These will need to be returned at the end of the season.
For players in 3rd-8th Grade, uniforms need to be purchased. A uniform consists of a jersey top and shorts. Players can use those uniforms until they outgrow it. We shoot for, but can not guarantee, at least 2 years of use.
